Welcome
In a study of 400 firms commissioned by Automation Anywhere, Forrester found that firms who adhered more closely to these frameworks and best practices are also more likely to be expanding their RPA deployments, suggesting a more successful implementation.
To get the most out of the technology, firms must first put in place a strong foundation for automation and build competencies in the four areas of process, people, governance and technology.

Your Results
Based on your responses to the survey questions, your organization’s RPA maturity level is Beginner.
Beginners are still investigating RPA’s potential and have typically just emerged from one or more proofs of concept (POCs). Their RPA program may be led by a business unit with no centralized operating model or support. The organization has no expertise on process assessment, control frameworks, or governance reporting.
In this nascent stage, what are some best practices firms need to be aware of?
Your Results
Based on your responses to the survey questions, your organization’s RPA maturity level is Intermediate.
At the intermediate level, automation is still a relatively small but growing part of the organization’s strategy. RPA still exists as islands of automation throughout organizations/firms, with IT and lines of business (LOBs) struggling for control or starting to develop a consistent cross-departmental engagement model. RPA is still looked upon as a tactical play in FTE reduction. Gaining scale at this stage is heavily contingent on effective buy-in from the LOBs, which may feel threatened by the potential for job loss and may not adequately support program growth. Projects are decentralized, and there has been early implementation of a business-IT operating model or center of excellence (CoE). Organizations at the intermediate level typically depend on external service partners and have a narrower view of automation. At this stage, firms are typically managing bots with a relatively operational view of bot analytics and measurement, while the ability to holistically measure the business value of RPA is still evolving.
What can you do to elevate your RPA program, and what are some pitfalls to watch out for as you scale your RPA?
Your Results
Based on your responses to the survey questions, your organization’s RPA maturity level is Advanced.
Advanced organizations have a well-structured approach to RPA with an organizationwide automation program that cuts across different departments and lines of business. The automation initiative has a strong executive buy-in, and leaders have dedicated efforts toward supporting the initiative with a culture of automation. These organizations have put in place strong governance and control frameworks for their RPA efforts, with IT and business sharing responsibility for the program within a federated model, with a central automation CoE staffed with IT and business stakeholders.
